Classical Singing 1 Term 3

Introduction

Want to take your singing to a higher note? MCM’s Classical Singing 1 will give you the opportunity to take your skills to the next level. Located at the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music in Southbank, this music short course will enable you to develop skills, technique and knowledge in the art of classical singing.

Guided by a dedicated industry professional and practicing artist, you will:

  • Gain a solid foundation in classical singing
  • Explore ways to maximise your enjoyment of singing
  • Develop singing techniques to serve all styles, such as music theatre, contemporary and jazz

Our dedicated artists, practicing educators and industry professionals who will be guiding you include: 

David Butler Baritone who is a graduate of the Victorian College of the Arts (Classical Voice) and is director of the David Butler Studio in Melbourne, Australia. He has extensive performance and coaching experience with stage and performance credits include creating the role of “Frou” in the Australian premiere season of indigenous children’s opera Laugh Out Loud, “Police Commissioner Frank” in Strauss’ Die Fledermaus, understudying the role of “Le Dancaire” in Bizet’s Carmen and performed as solo bass for Faure’s Requiem, Handel’s Messiah, Rossini’s Petite Messe Solenelle, Purcell’s Dido & Aeneas and King Arthur. David Butler Studio has also produced various concerts, events and touring productions including a 2014 national tour of Elaborate Lives, hosting New York based opera director Chuck Hudson, and most recently a comedy fundraising event for the Victorian AIDS Council.

No prior experience is required. Music reading ability is useful, but not essential.
This course is suitable for 17 + year olds
