The Graduate Diploma in Music is a one-year program designed for university graduates in any field who wish to undertake graduate-level study in music.
Through the Graduate Diploma in Music (Composition), you will acquire advanced skills in instrumental and vocal writing, orchestration, electro-acoustic music, professional score presentation, rehearsal skills and concert management, alongside the development of a personal and original compositional voice.
The program encourages composition in all styles, and you learn to work through all phases of the composition process, from generation of first ideas, to completion of a professionally presented score, to interaction with performers in rehearsals, culminating in a public performance of your work. You can also complement your composition focus through a range of electives, including ensembles, conducting, and academic and applied skills electives.
Upon completion of the Graduate Diploma in Music you may be eligible to apply for masters programs by research or coursework in Music.
